My last stoppage

Past moments never die
It sits silently along some roadside
alive

It too have emotions and desires
Its we who passes by like a traveller
But It keeps waiting for us
like a tree

These lines reflect my emotions
which is sitting along
my last stoppage

"Oh my Love
go Wherever you desire
But take care
And here is one
Who keeps waiting for you"

"Before leaving
There are some moments
Which I got on my way
some are really beautiful
Please check if they belong to you....."

my last stoppage
Where I halted for a while
and thought end of life
But to start again was my fate
and to move on is called life

Hope!!!

Dreams shattered
Heart broke
Faith betrayed
But one thing that is only Built
Hope!!!

Battles Lost
Confidence drowned
Failure overpowers
But one thing that still Motivates
Hope!!!

Relations Shaken
Emotions played with
Charm diminished
But one thing that now Binds
Hope!!!

Hope!!!
That some day My Dreams will be Real
Hope!!!
That some day I will win a Battle
Hope!!!
That some day I will live my relations

Hope!!!
That my Hopes never Die
And If they

"??????????????????"

What it is
the loneliness,
in being together ?

What it is
the silence,
in too many words ?

What it is,
to win,
and to lose at victory ?

What it is,
to laugh,
Mock at the tears ?

What it is,
to expect,
and the failure to reach it ?

What it is
in All,
that is Nothing ?

What it is
the Nothing,
that is all ?

How to say, when the heart is stubborn ?
How to write, when the hands are frozen ?
How to embrace, when the love is hidden ?

Whom should I thank ?
-for the life that I have
Or Should I apologise
Perhaps, even why ?

A Tale of two Friends.........

We always think of friends and try to define the term to best of our ability, but we fail to acknowledge that the term has its root deep into heart and its very tough to define the words that come from heart to yourself then how can you define it in words or on paper.

This post describes how two with two different pole attitudes shared such beautiful moments of friendship.

One of the friends is a bit shy, hesitate to look beyond a time, aggressive, intelligent, lazy but is quick and sharp. The other one is not that shy, always try to look beyond a period, not so aggressive, hard working. However both shared a few qualities but they are quite insignificant to mention here.

I am going to mention some of the beautiful moments both shared........

They met first time in Senior secondary school while solving Co-ordinate geometry problem on second row, third bench sometime around mid August. One was solving problem the other was staring at him.

They turned acquaintances in K K Swain tuition, the common factor was both did not have friends in tuition classes and Jyoti master Chemistry brought them bit closer and they started sharing their experiences.

In school they had their moments, it is not that they always roamed together but there was something that always brought them closer.

One of those factors was cricket, both are fans of watching cricket matches so as so that they bunked classes to watch the match in library and were surprised to find each other in same room. Both of them have been caught red handed while watching matches, but they never repented for the punishment they got. That was the first crisis time both faced together.

Both the friends really spent some light moments in school corridors. Both of them studied together sometimes even over phone.

There was a situation when one of the friend's had a fractured leg and the other had just learned to ride a scoot y but admits all risks the latter provided lift to former in order to collect certificate from home that were required for registration, and in lab exam also helped the former in experiments. There was no emotions pertaining to friendship in latter one but he could never define why he was helping the other guy.

To their bad luck they both landed up in the same engineering Institute and that too in same branch and same section. It is not that we sit together in class but they do share the chair while watching cricket matches in common room.

Both the Semesters they both shared light moments especially while moving together for exams. One of them got opportunity to move up into CSE branch while the other one tried hard to gain a slide up and that too while deciding branch to slide up he took the advice of his so called school friend. The latter one did not know what motivated him to act on the suggestion of other, but took the decision.

While attaining a class test, both of them were caught cheating from each other but one of them took the onus. He even got thrashing for that but never opened his mouth. One of them even acted as cousin for other in order to shield him from punishments.

It is not that there were no differences, there were differences. One can never expect such diverse minds to match. Both of them never party ed together, but there is something that binds them together. If this is called friendship, so it is. But it is very hard to define what it is.....

When I breathed Last time

When I breathed Last time
It was a plea
That my heart made for first time
" don't leave me"

When I breathed Last time
There was an urge
That my feelings made for first time
"don't let me submerge"

When I breathed for Last time
There was a hope
That my Life had for the First time
"This time I can't slip off the slope"

When I breathed for Last time
I know you too breathed
That we both breathed together for The last time
"I Love you"

Misuse of biased concept of Confused Democracy!!!!

Democracy has no definition in particular but in general there are basically two principles that act as the yardstick for democracy

1)All citizens are equal before the law and have equal access to power.
2)All citizens are able to enjoy legitimized freedoms and liberties, which are protected by constitution.

The idea to write on post struck me when I read the blog of Celina Jaitley, this Independence day.
There are a number of cases that I had observed before writing this post, lets start by analyzing some.

Case1: All of you, must have seen the blockbuster hit "Ran de Basanti", we were really carried away by the way the film tried to portray the resemblance of modern Indian youth energy with the energy that was once possessed by our great krantikaris. However, I still want to ask all of you some questions: Are Indian youths properly been represented ? I know most of us enjoy the way in which Amir and his gang enjoyed but still there were groups that were untouched by this bug of X-factor. Secondly, the way they confessed their crimes in media gathering public sympathy. was that correct?

The film enjoyed its full democratic rights to express the views and sentiments, the energy and agony of the present generation, but the film in the process forgot the impact of it on democracy.
See how,now a days, the criminals come before media to confess. In the most recent struggle between Naxals and paramillitary forces in Lalgarh, the leader of Naxals came to bargain with Government with the help of media.

If democracy is by the people and of the people then it is also for the people.
Case 2: Now do you remember Arushi Talwar murder case of Noida and the subsecuent media coverage. Media all of a sudden came forward to express its right to free journalism and covered the incident in detail, they even went to the extent of encouraging debates on the lost values of Indian Society. But do anyone of you remember Santi Rani? You must be thinking who is she? She is a girl of the age of Arushi Talwar ,who died the very next day of Arushi's death, in one of the remote villages and the same media reported the incident as yet another dowry death and that too for half a second. Congratulations!!!! The media used its freedom to show that the rights of a girl leaving in citites values more than that of a village girl and ironically when the same debate on the issue I just pointed out took place, one of the members of journalist family said "it is their right to decide what to cover and how much". Sure sir, you are right............
Case 3: Article 377 of constitution, the present verdict of Delhi high court gathered such a market for democracy, that it crossed all the trp ratings. The whole scenario is being painted in a way as the homosexuals won their freedom battle. While the court verdict was just a constitutional reform, many actors, public faces stepped in to pour their inexperience comments and verdicts in supprt of the gay community. I do not mean to harm anyone's sentiments but I want to state a clip from a research report: "The risks faced by gay community range from social discrimination and societal and domestic voilence to health care risks both psychological and physical" the enitre report supporting the claim is available in the internet but our actors and actresses do not have the time to spare from their make up schedule to have a look at the finidings and then present their ideas instead madam Jaitley claiming herself to be 4th generation army servant came forward in support of the gays. Madam if you are really interested in something good for society then be a part of Goverment's NREGA, you will surely gain less publicity. Alas!! its your freedom to choose which I shouldnot interfere.

The cases I have stated are just some but not all, we market Democracy to sale our products, as the recent reality TV show saga on Saach ka Samna. We all preach the ideology of democracy and try to search for a hide and democracy do provide us the protection.

As I conclude, I must say Democracy as a concept is itself confused and realization of democracy leads to bias and there is enough scope to misuse it.

As I understood democracy, from its two princliples : All are equal in the eyes of law and it is everyone's responsibility to fight for equality and freedom but those equality and freedom should be legitimate in the eyes of Penal code and constitution which in turn are nothing but the reflection of the consencous of majority of the society and in agreement with laws of nature. But in the end, majority is not always right and laws are formed by us.

In the end it all comes to morality, even a dictatorial regime with a dictator having good moral values can be better than the democracy which is confused and biased.

Dees thesis on Liquors

Before you go through this post, I want it to make it very clear "Ki main sharabi nahin hun" so please do not equate me to the list but what I am going to post is a small research on liquors and the people who consume it.

Lets begin with the most expensive drink I have ever seen-- its the 30 year old single malt Glenfiddich Vintage reserve. A small peg costs you Rs 8000+25% value added tax. Uffff!!!!!!

Next if you want to challenge yourself anytime in your life try and have a peg of Absinthe ( alcohol limit of 72%) uffffff!!!! After a drink you feel like you are in heaven and if you enjoy it with Gazhals, then the effect of alcohol multiplies....

We always want to know, what drink is ladies' favourite? I did a small research and survey among bar tendors and found it astonishing, its ginseng-flavoured-vodka. Ginseng is a root of plant that grows in south asian countries and is an aphrodisiac.

Now what does your choice of liquor tell about you??? umf!!!!! gr8 question isnt it
Single malts or Scotch whiskey: very level headed, keep to themselves and high level of perseverance.
Beer is a young blooded drink
I do not know much about this question and perhaps need to do a bit of work.

In the end if you want to do away with hang over then drink a lot of water and then coffee and make sure that coffee has milk in it, or go for fresh lime soda. surely you will do away with hangover.

So guys if you have any experience, please do post in comment section, it would further help me to analyze the topic.

Think Success and reap Success but what if one fails

“In order to succeed, you have got to want and want very badly indeed, your well chosen objective. Your sheer tenacity will drive you to the top. The right sort of ambition, an ambition of a challenging nature, is truly a tremendous spur to achieve. The man who does not want badly enough to do a thing, will make any number of excuses for not doing it.” CSR

There has been in numerous number of articles encouraging its readers to work for success, but there are hardly a handful describing what to do when one fails. People do show reactions when they fail and in this post I have posted my analysis that I had drawn from my research on how people think about their failure.

I will take a leaf from Barack Obama speech to the Muslim world “ But I am convinced that in order to move forward, we must say openly the things we hold in our hearts, and that too often are said only behind closed doors.” to start on with what I want to advocate in this post. Lets analyze what are various scenarios and reactions.

Scenario 1: A person works hard burning midnight oil, but then no one knows what is in store for him, and he fails to achieve.
Reaction1: Some will go and introspect. Acceptance and introspection is required and these are positive traits. Once you have accepted your failure, your job of ‘turning the stones of failure to path for success’ is half done, but then what is the result of your introspection also matters a lot. Some would come forward claiming that they have tried everything and there is nothing that they can do more, but thinking in this manner closes all their avenues. One must realize that there is something that has not been addressed. Some would come forward blaming external factors like luck, environment, cast, creed etc. for their debacle, but then those are external and no one has any control on those and there is no guarantee that next time luck will be on your side. Everyone know there is an element of luck in any case, but if you introspect and found that only luck and all those that are external to you did not come at your disposal then I would classify you in the list of those who are cowards but claim publicly that their valor has been misinterpreted. Some would come forward with some good reasons for their failure, the reasons that they can justify and that they can work upon, the reasons that are internal to them like ‘I myself made a mess of it’, ‘I was confused about my emotions’, ‘ I failed to acknowledge the truth’, ‘ I need to work hard’. These reasons are internal to one and there can be many of this kind but what I want to advocate is that these are factors that we can change ourselves, but again your commitment to turn these to your benefit, depends solely on you. I have personally seen cases where people do come up with good introspection but fail in their commitment. Look at BJP debacle, prior to Lok Sabha Election, they lost in Delhi, Rajasthan and they knew very well that making terrorism and Hindutwa as their agenda is not accepted by masses but they committed the same mistake in Mandate 2009.

Scenario 2: A person does not work hard and knows he is going to fail. Reaction 2: This category of people will show some funny traits. Some will go and start projecting their health and aftermath of failure on their health so that they can gain some sympathy. Actually they fear the reactions of people and search for some desperate channel. In some cases I do accept that health played a major obstacle. Some will go publicly to claim that they have done enough but behind those closed doors and in dark lonely nights when they close their eyes they know they had not done enough. Some would come forward and say perhaps this was God’s wish, but no one has seen Him or know what He desires, we do need to have faith in Him but there is no point in closing ears and eyes to your own fault. Some too come forward claiming that job was not their cup of tea but I do believe that we can do everything we want to do, the two things we need are determination and commitment. My sincere advice to all these people is to start working hard and then even if you fail you do not feel like losing and can still hope to rise as Phoenix.

Success can be crafted from failure. There are issues with individual, which need to be addressed, there is no point in hiding those and there is no way to escape from those also. It is better that those issues are addressed as soon as possible. You all must have failed at some point in your life may it be in academics, love life, family, in fact everyone fails but the way we bounce back really matters. I do agree that there is no point in looking back to what has happened but one need to introspect past mistakes and work accordingly in present so that his future is shaped.

A few romantic conversations.......

Scenario 1
: The boy is accompanying his girl friend to airport. The girl was going to distant place for a long time, probably will never return. The girl is in love with some other guy who was never in love with her and these two buddies have been great friends for a long time. Suddenly in the airport the girl popped the question....

Girl: Do you love me?
Boy: (Sarcastically) Yeah!!!

Girl: I am serious....

Boy remaining silent for a while replied

Boy: If I say yes, this would be an injustice to our relationship as good friends and injustice to your emotions, as I know you love some other guy. It would also be injustice to emotions of others who consider us as good friends.
If I say, I cannot tell it now, then I will be putting you in dilemma and would show that I am not clear in my thoughts and feelings.
So I would say NO, as saying so, the only person to whom I am doing the injustice is me. There is a long list of injustices that I have done to myself and if another gets appended to that long list, I do not think it would change any scenario.

The girl was surprised and dumbstruck. She could not say even a single word in reply. The boy friend waved his hand to say a bye.

(Can anyone predict what would have happened next? If you are a girl and been in that situation what you would have replied? If you are a boy Has the boy done good enough to convey that he loves her more than himself? Think about it and do post your comments.......)

Scenario 2
: A boy is in love with a girl but has no courage to tell her, the girl knows about it. In few months they have turned as good friends and once in a stormy evening the girl was walking down the streets with the boy and suddenly it started raining with lightening, the boy took out the only polythene he had tried to cover his girl friend. Then in that moment the girl popped the question ....
Girl: Do you love me?
Boy: Its raining heavily and we must reach out for some shed, then we can talk.

The girl was in no mood to listen to excuses and she pressed upon the question again and again. The boy looked in her eyes and asked

Boy: what are you seeing in my eyes, can you read it?
Girl:No, why are you not replying to my question?
Boy: But I can read it, from the very first day of our friendship I knew that you would pop this question to me one day, and I can also read it now that what is the answer you are expecting and also you have prepared a reply to it. So, what I am really worried about now, is your health. You may fall sick due to rain, so now my priority is to search a shed for you.

(Can anyone predict what would have happened next? If you are a girl and been in that situation what you would have replied? If you are a boy Has the boy done good enough to convey that he loves her? What reply was the boy talking about? Think about it and do post your comments.......)

Mandate 2009-->Left is lost history

The mandate 2009 proved a fact,'India is different from Left'. With the Left voicing against nuclear deal, it forgot one thing, that the condition of voicing against America and gaining popularity was during Vietnam war times, that was 30 years past scenario. The single person who has really concealed the defeat is Mr. Prakash Karat, and it would be quite interesting to analyze how under his stewardship left has been reduced from 61 in 2004 to 24 in 2009.

First role of left came into notice when it started passing opposing comments on ruling UPA during inflation. At that time, people of India expected that being a part of government Left should co-operate with UPA to fight the situation rather than taking up to public and agitating the general masses by calling for bands and hadtals. It presented contradicting scenarios, on one hand it opposed the rise in petrol prices, but on other hand when other state governments were taking measures to cut through local prices of petrol, the states under left did not do anything in that direction.

Secondly, it rose to picture with vicirous opposition to Nuclear deal, Karat must realize that people of India well know Manmohan Singh and his foresight as compared to his. And to add on to misery it broke away from UPA sighting its dissatisfaction on the functioning of UPA. However UPA bounced back and saved the deal with America.

Thirdly, in desparate situation he started collecting and forming third front. He ran to Mayawati to Naidu who are not so popular leaders in national level. Although he formed the third front with view of providing alternative to people of India, he forgot to take the pill that 21st century India is different and willing to take risks. Even the leaders who provided him some support did not turn up in the first rally of third front.

Lastly Karat neglected his strong areas of West Bengal and Kerela. In kerela there was internal spat between left and in WB TMC and INC were growing like anything.

So, Left better luck next time. We know you have fought a hard and fair election. We are proud of you for being a part of Indian democratic procedure. What I can suggest is a little work on the ideologies. We must keep in mind that "To take a big leap forward, one has to move 2 steps backward" so jump left to right and be realistic that what people of India expect from you in next election.

Last night feeling at NIT...... A walk with my Archetype

Last night, I walked in my dream

To search for someone, who can add to my life some cream

But alas I met my Archetype

That looked so different, that it made me to scream

I looked at it with surprise

And nothing I could apprise
But as I started to walk away without compromise

It called me from behind "Dee, can you give a Part of your time slice?"

I again looked at it with surprise

As it spoke like me, with a flavor of computer science

It said this is me

To whom people call Dee

But my heart and soul could never agree

It walked with me from back post to front post,
Reminding me each and everything that I host
It really took a lot of courage

To look into its eyes
As I felt disgrace

In the end, It left me

Saying please forgive me
As It cannot go further with me
And waved his hand
saying BYE BYE Dee

Journey......

Many say life is a journey,
And the way you travel decides your honey,
But we neglect
The road on which we do our journey.

Many say success is journey,
And putting the first step is the key,
But we neglect
To decide the check points which indicate success of journey.

Many say hope is Sun
And Journey towards it cast the shadow of burden behind us
But we neglect
The pain of journey towards Sun.

Many say peace is journey
Of thousand miles and each step must be taken carefully
But we neglect
The path to peace is not so lovely.

Many say many about journey
And on completion of one journey, we wear travel shoes for another
But we neglect
The adventure and uncertainty of all Journeys will be different.

Whatever U give give to life, It comes back to you.
Do not hate anybody
The Hatred that comes out of you will someday comeback to you
Love others and love will come back to you.

Chef Dee's new Continental Chicken.....

I love cooking and when it comes down to chicken, I turn crazy and I am never afraid of trying out new recipes. I must admit that trying out experiments while cooking is a risky job, as it may lead to wastage of food , however risks are part and parcel of life.

The item i am going to share with you is one of the continental cuisine. I have tried this item last winter. This is a completely new item prepared by me and I take the guarantee of the taste. So go back home and try it out.

Continental Chicken:

Ingredients:
250 gm chicken boneless, if possible go for breast pieces and try to get a shape such as cube.
1/2 cup white wine (one can get it from a Bar)
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp oil
2 tbsp refined flour
1 cup chicken stock (to know what it is) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stock_(food)
salt to taste
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 cup sour cream
200 gm dried noodles
1 tbsp butter

Method:
Pierce the chicken pieces with a fork, on all sides and marinate in the wine.

Heat the butter and oil and add the chicken pieces over high heat, and turn around till well coated with the fat.
Add the flour and mix well over low heat, till slightly colored. Then add the chicken stock, bring to a boil and then simmer till chicken is cooked through.

Add the salt, pepper, and sour cream, simmer till heated through.

In the meantime, boil the noodles, drain and mix in the butter. Serve chicken over the cooked noodles.

Hope you will enjoy the dish.

The beauties of nature that we failed to realize.......

We sometimes think out of box and sometimes we think out of the world. But nature is such a wonderful creation of God, which we tend to ignore. Who ever is going through this post, must realize that if he had not experienced these beauties then he must try these out.

Do anyone has the experience of waking up early in the morning by the sweet whistle of cuckoo?
The nature has provided us with such a good alarm, but we have never used it.

Has anyone ever seen a flower bud opening up to glow in the morning hours?
The nature has provided with such a good luck sight straight forward, but we do not take advantage of it.

Has anyone ever walked on the grass in the early morning when there would be dew and has anyone ever used those drops in eyes?
Nature has provided with such a cooling mechanism and good natural eye drop but still we have never realized it.

Has anyone ever chased or tracked the ant line to their nest?
A lot of hard work is involved in this case but you would have a very good experience if you can do that.

In the scorching heat have you ever worked in the garden and then took shed under the tree?
I guarantee that if you do that in summer then you would surely go to the garden and would enjoy the first monsoon shower.

We are always impressed by beauty of flowers when they bloom on plants and take snaps of the plant loaded with flowers. But has anyone ever took snap of a plant in the night just before shedding the flowers?
The scene is quite beautiful, the plant would be full of old flowers and new buds.

And the list is vast and endless. The life style of a normal engineer do not allow to experience most of these beauties. But friends, a long vacation is coming up. If you have not experienced these beauties go back home and give a try. I use to spend a lot of time with nature before joining NIT, but after that I met with such beautiful creatures like you all created by nature that I ditched my old friends of nature and made some new one. But now I think time has come to return to old friends.........

CSE final year cricket team- The Champions

The final year computer science cricket team crafted a new era when they lifted The Champions Trophy today. The team that started as an underdog in the tournament lifted their standards and played as a team to bring this glory to the department. Under the able leadership of Rahul Mohapatra, each player struck to the basics and played their natural game in a stylish fashion. The team had its luck, but fortune favors the brave.

The team for the last three years have been struggling and has seen many humiliating defeats, but this time they were determined and were not ready to negotiate for anything less than victory. In fact all champions are born from the ashes like this team. They calculated their last year mistakes very well and played a flawless cricket this time.

If we look at the composition of the team, credit of which goes to Ram Narayan Subudhi, it was well balanced with one specialized wicket-keeper batsman Sukumar Panda, the undisputed best player of the team Binod Bhagat, three all-rounders Rahul, Ram and Sunil, specialized new ball partners Rahul and Vikram and strong middle order. The quality of fielding set on field by Bhanu Krushna Rout, Sukumar Rahul and Binod was awesome in the series. The team had enough bowling back up with Ram, Bhowmik and Sunil holding back the batsmans to crease. Not to forget the team had its good luck in the form of lucky cham D Anshuman available to them.

The way the team evolved during the series can be well realized from captain's comments in the post match conference at Vatika, when he commented that the team adapted well to situations, this is infact the single factor that made them the champions. After the victory, the team enjoyed its success by parting hard at Vatika Restrurant. The team is happy in terms of their contribution to department by winning this trophy.

There are many positives came up from this series for the team, and this can be well analyzied by their performance statistics. www.mylifedee.blogspot.com tried to carry out a post match analysis that would focus on the performance of the players of CSE final year in the tournament.

1.Rahul Mohapatra (Captain)

Role: Bowling all-rounder
Runs: 15
Wickets: 8
The captain led the bowling department from the front. The batsman keep on looking at the balls as they pass through them to wicket keeper. The energy and performance of captain on field was awesome. He is responsible for two stunning catches in the series that kept his boys on foot, as if he is setting examples for his team. he is a cool customer with a steady head and never expected too much from his boys. He only insisted them to play to their potential and strengths.

2.Sukumar Panda

Role: Wicket keeper Batsman
Runs: 70
Catches:12
Always alert behind wickets and with his safe hands and instant reflexes supported the bowlers with stunning catches. He is the opening batsman and is infact the highest run getter of the team. The run he scored and the time he spent in the middle took away the pressure from batting line up. He stood firm like a wall, rotating strikes and running under the burning sun to collect runs from all corners of ground. A true asset to CSE team. Full marks for his performance with bat and gloves.

3.Ram Narayan Subudhi

Role: All-rounder
Runs: 35
Wickets: 6
A handy customer in the team, who played a major role in keeping the second line of bowling tight. He too has been successful in getting crucial wickets with his tight line and length. On the feild with his agressive attitude ,he was responsible for saving many boundries that frustated the opposition. With willow in his hand, he always looked for quick runs and successfully got many crucial boundries. He spent a lot of time in middle with captain dicussing strategies. A true mixture of strategy and calculated aggression in his personality added this flower to CSE basket.

4.Vikramjeet Sakia

Role: Bowler
Wickets: 9
Runs: 16
He shared the new ball with captain and made it sure that the pressure is maintained from both the ends. The undefeatable Assame tough guy, silent but aggressive with ball is the highest wicket taker of the tournament. Some of his balls are just un playable. But not to forget his contribution with bat, in a decider match he scored 16 runs in 6 balls with one 4 and one 6 to sell his team to semi final round, he was the show stuffer of that match and his performance frusteted one of the most favourite teams of the tournament.

5. Binod Bhagat

Role: All rounder
Wickets: 6
Runs: 40
He is Mr. CSE cricketer. He exceled in all departments. With bowl he bowled a tight line, on the feild he is responsible for a stunning and crucial runnot and with the bat he partnered with Sukumar and made sure that they donot expose their middle order early into crease. The run out he converted was most required at that stage when the opposition just required 2 from three balls, and his contribution showed the team the way into finals. A star performer of the team.

6.Bhanu Krushna Rout

Role: Batsman
Runs: 30
He is Mr. Dependable and comes on second down. He adapts very well to situations and bats accordingly. He can take on charge to the opposition any time in the match and can clear the ropes. This unique abilty as a batsman keeps opposition guessing about him as he can turn the game on his own. On the feild, along with Ram he gaurded the boundry as a sliding wall behind the ball and frustrated the opposition by cutting short the boundries. A unquie character of the team.

7. Vivek Bajaj

Role: Batsman
Runs: 20
He is lower middle order batsman, a true hitter of cricket ball and a finisher. With such a strong batting line up on him, he is not exposed so much to the attack in the series but he has his contribution in chasing down the score with Vikram in that crucial match. He is un doubtably a great talent in the team with lot of experience in super six matches and on the feild too he was full of energy. He too can bowl some odd overs and carried out the duties very well as and when required by his captain.

8. Sunil Kumar Parida

Role: Batsman
Runs:15
With willow in his hand he is simply a stunner. However, with a strong top order batting line up he did not get opportunity to show his immense talent. On the feild he provided a good cover. He too can bowl some handy seam bowling with old bowl and contributed with ball when the team required. A major mood booster in the dressing room and enjoyed with team each and every moment. Quite innovative in his approach to game and was one of the major strategy players.

9. Ajitab Tiwari

Role: batsman
Runs: 30
He comes on first down and with his batting skills parallal to Vijay Shekhawat (Victory movie hero), he never let bowlers to grow on top of batsman. He hits the ball well and in the gap to take on attack to bowlers. He loves to play his natural game but developed as a team player when stayed on crease in final and made sure that he remains their on crease till the winning runs are hit. A player with wonderful temperament and aggression.

10.Deb kumar Bhowmik

Role:Bowler
wickets: 4
He handles the second line of bowling attack with Ram. He mixes up his speed very well and always keep the batsman guessing. He has got a deadly slow ball weapon like Bravo and used it now and then to trouble the batsman. On field he has a safe hand and always on toes to check the ball passing with in his coverage area.

11. D. Anshuman Acharya

Role: Bowler
With a strong and dependable bowling line up, he did not get the opportunity to bowl too much. However when ever the captain tossed up the ball to him he bowled with his full heart. He is a lucky cham for the team who scored the last winning runs in the final to end the tournament as champions

The entire series was covered offline by Deepak and was present with the team in the finals to cover it online. His presence was appreciated by the team when the team invited him in their post match celebrations at Vatika. It has been a nice tournament to cover and with talented teams comming up and playing fine cricket over weeks, the season was awesome. In the end the unexpected team of CSE final year students sizzed the victory nad emerged as champions. In cricket unexpected things turn up from no where and perhaps this is why Cricket is a funny game.

Oriya poem "Mo sapana ra jia"

Please read it in Oriya....... This is a dessi poem dedicated to my dream girl "Mo sapana ra jia" composed in bidessi style. I have tried my level best to project her here. For non oriya friends after every stanza I have tried to explain its meaning......

Sapana re nitti asuchi jie
jibana re kahin assuni sie
kaha ae phoola, kaha ae megha
kauthi mo sapana au jibana jiba missi

(The girl who comes in my dream every night, why is she not coming to me in reality. Then I ask the question to flowers and clouds, when would my dream turn into reality?)

Hassa jahar phoote sakala phoola bhali
Luha jahar barase kala megha bhali
Jahar otho au akhi re jae mu bhulli
kaha ae phoola, kaha ae megha
Sapana re nitti asuchi jie
jibana re kahin assuni sie

(The girl whose smile reminds me of morning flower that has just bloosomed, whose tears comes up as raining dark clouds. The girl in whose lips and eyes I am lost, I ask the question to flowers and clouds,The girl who comes in my dream every night, why is she not coming to me in reality.)

Khouji khouji jahaku mu hajji jae
ae prema banna re rasta mu bhuli jae
Jahar sugandha tani ane mate naddi kula ku
Kaha ae banna, kaha ae naddi
Sapana re nitti asuchi jie
jibana re kahin assuni sie

(The girl whom I search for everywhere and get lost in the process, even I forget my way searching for her in dense forest of love. The girl whose sweet smell shows me the way to river bank when I am lost. I ask the question to the same forest and river,The girl who comes in my dream every night, why is she not coming to me in reality.)

Purnima ra chandra ku dekhi mu bhabe jaha bisaya re
Akasha re tara joddi joddi mu kare kalpana jaha bisaya re
Jahar amavashya kari die mate pagala
Kaha ae chandra, kaha ae tara
Sapana re nitti asuchi jie
jibana re kahin assuni sie

( The girl whom I think about by looking at the moon in a full moon night, even I join stars and try to mapp her out in the night sky. The girl(as a moon) whose absence (Amavasya) turns me mad.I ask the question to the same moon and stars,The girl who comes in my dream every night, why is she not coming to me in reality.)

Sapana au satya missiba jebe
Jibana ti mora sarthaka heba tebe
Kahin kejani mu rahiba cahain
aei sundara sapna re
Sapana re nitti asuchi jie
jibana re asiba ki sie??

(When my dream will turn into reality, I would consider it as my success in life. But I fear and want to be in my sweet dreams. The fear that pricks me is that the girl who comes in my dream, would she come in reality to me??)

The lost concept of India in Indian Premier League

Lets Rename the teams of IPL 2009:
Delhi Daredevils will be Oval Daredevils, Deccan Chargers will be Lords Chargers, Mumbai Indians will be Manchester English, Rajasthan Royals will be Queens Royal, Chennai Super kings will be Liverpool Super kings, Kings XI Punjab will be Queens XI Ireland.

Lets revise the rules of IPL:
1.The teams can play at most four players of the respective mother states of India.
2.The audience from India should have a valid passport and visa.

IPL 2 has lost the very concept of India in it when BCCI president announced today afternoon that IPL 2 will be held overseas. All thanks to Home Minister and State Governments. Lets analyze how this enitre drama unfolded.

I had sensed IPL 2 will not going to be easy for Lalit Modi with Vasundhra Raje losing elections to congress in Rajasthan. Then the upcoming goverment started bringing allegations against him. To add on to situation Modi lost Rajasthan Cricket Association elections. Media reports suggestted that Modi was very close to Raje, it was well noticed live in Set Max when Modi had unconditional access to Raje. Even in the case of terrorist attacks in Jaipur during IPL 1, Raje ensured that the tournament players are safe and the show went on uninterrupdly. Does Modi paying heavily for being close to Raje? Because if we see the states who reverted back their decisions are states where Congress is in power. The may not have taken the matter seriously as they donot care or is it very premature to arrive at such a conclusion???

Even if we consider there is no poltics involved in the whole process. Lets look at a different angle. The honorable Home Minister is worried about security, where was this concern prior to Mumbai attack? Had the earlier minister of the office had taken his job with such sencierity, I hope the mega event would have been in India. The terrorists who have attacked the Sri Lankan cricket team have succeded in their motive to harm Indian economy.

If we look the other side of the coin, we can realize the strain the government is facing. The South African security company that is hired to design the security architecture for IPL 2 presented a model that required para millitary forces which the centre cannot compromise on. The government cannot afford to carry the stain of another terrorist attack.

The entire senario went into a deadlock. Firstly, IPL management couldnot able to predict that the security condition in subcontinent will detoriate to such an extent in comming year. and cricketers would be targeted. Secondly, the failure of talks between elements of the system that included all IPL management, Home ministry and state governments. Lastly the lack of poltical motive and support to carry on the event. In the whole senario the suffers are again the innocent people who love cricket to an extent of considering it as their religion. The terrorist have won again.

Why do we spread terror......

Lost in woods, I wonder
Why we all spread terror,
Is it that, we are in horror
Or is it that, we just love to murder.

Rome coined the term "terror"
with loads of error
Wiki acknowledges its confusion
when it says there is no definition,
So lost in woods, I wonder
Why we commit this error.

We kill in name of religion,
Others kill us in name of restoration
Both are forms of same terror
now which is far from being over
So lost in woods, I wonder
Why we all love to murder.

Blood of innocence, Is it what we strive for,
Destruction of peace,Is it what we live for,
Is it that we have lost faith
Or has forgotten the value of a breath
So lost in woods, I still wonder
Why we all spread terror.

A single Factor of yours .....

A single sketch of yours inspired so much artistry
that the entire flurry of manipulative artists
unitedly failed to evoke in my life.

A single smile of yours triggered so much magic
that the entire conglomerate of magicians
unitedly failed to evoke in my life.

A single stare of yours evolved so much concentration
that the entire string of mediators
unitedly failed to evoke in my life.

A single belief of yours spawned so much harmony
that the entire ocean of baseless religions
unitedly failed to evoke in my life.

A single sound of yours fomented so much melody
that the entire arena of talented musicians
unitedly failed to evoke in my life.

A single nod of yours incited so much assurance
that the entire river of promises
unitedly failed to evoke in my life.

A single heartbeat of yours inflamed so much love
that the entire meadow of countless wealth and belongings
unitedly failed to evoke in my life.

For me,
You are the answers to all the riddles of my life,
You are the one who heals all pains of my life,

But a single factor of yours that will kill me
is your love , which is my life.

How festivals in NIT have changed over last four years.....

Being a part of this Institute for last four years, I have observed the transition in the way we celebrate our various festivals. All thanks to Ram who has suggested me to write on this topic.

Confluence 2k6: Under the able leadership of Mr Rajvalvah the event was a great success. We had participants from all over Orissa and in house too. It was covered by national TV and was later broadcasted.

Spring fest 2k6: The show was average. The management tried its best to organize events and it was only the Jal band from whom we had so many expectations, betrayed us. However the event was crowded and everything was planned.

Confluence 2k7: The anamoly in the system had started this year. I feel that the managemnet that was elected didnot realized their responsibility. They didnot realized that the confluence2k6 had set the standards very high and they have to carry it ahead, instead due to lack of co ordination with other institutes in Orissa the public turn over dried.

Spring fest 2k7: The spring fest of 2006 introduced very new concepts of Gudguddi and many more events. we had Khailash Kher as our celebrity. With new ideas and energy it was a low budget hit.

Confluence 2k8: Come confluence 2k8, in the mid of economic boom and Microsoft streching its helping hands. The management was good too. But there were some basic mistakes commited by both students and management that set up the fire. Also with so much of money involved the system had grown much complicated to be handled by team of students who were facing both internal and external pressure. In midst of all there was a job fair by Microsoft and rest was all chaos. To add on to the chaos was the comming up of E cell and time and again trying to change the system.

Spring fest 2k8: Spring 2k8 with Satya leading from front tried almost single handledly to manage the events, he got little support from his team to fulfill the high dreams. However they worked well to bring on Kunal Ganjewala with a heafty sum and the show was a super duper Hit. The event were interresting but standards were ok. It was a high budget and main event driven season.

Confluence 2k9: A failure in short. The major contributer to this failure is the failed policy of director to lift the student elections for different posts and to add on to it the recession. A low budget and poor show. With mini techfest earlier this year, the public had hoped for better performance. The team was not to be blamed. There were indivisuals who were capable of delivering but was not given the power and they infact did that to best of their ability.

Spring fest 2k9: The show is on, but the energy is low and also the dates fall in summer. We do hope something is there in package, lets hope for the best.

Lets try to look into the causes of this down trending:
1) The first to be blamed is Supreme court of India, which made ragging illegal. I do agree ragging is not good, but the way the law was implemented bared the senior junior intraction. We do agree that first two to three months were tough as a fresher, but then the seniors are your best friends and good guides after that. The present senario is just confused and full of carelessness. One cannot expect a fresher to understand the culture of the Institute without seniors guidance.

2) The system has moved and has developed into such a fragmantic one that everyone has forgoten the entire goal of an Institute. By the system, I mean both students and faculties. With Institute trying to interfere into personal life of students with hostel suffling policy,  strict attendance norms, lifting up the elections and many more has led to this situation. And also with students over days growing selfish, motivated by lot of other factors, fragmanted among themselves has also let us down. We need to understand that we cannot change a system drastically, we have to be a part of system and try to evolve it through stages.

The Institute should feel the urgency to address these problems and come up with sustainable solutions. These festivals are integral part of a student's life. If the problem is not addressed now, then I fear the extinction of smile and happiness from NIT Rourkela.

Can Gandhi principles be promoted in Auction house.....

Gandhi Items vs Gandhi Ideals

Do we remember what Gandhiji advocated? If we feel that bringing back his glasses, shoes will impress bapu's principles, then we are caught in a wrong foot. Gandhi always advocated that he want to live in heart of every Indian, not in museum. Many of us feel that we do not anymore harbor Gandhian ideologies, however we should not forget the manner in which we retaliated after Mumbai attacks. We must appreciate the way UPA took up the case and tried to show up the spat between Pakistan civil goverment, Pakistan Army and pakistan millitants. Gandhi never advocated submission, nor valued materialistic beauties.

So Mr. Otis, we Indians are not fools. We will not give you that huge amount in the recession time. We have Bapu in our mind and soul. You want to keep glasses and make money out of it, do it and when you spend out those money do come to India, we will give you another set of Gandhi items to auction. This is what Gandhiji has taught us. But Mr. Otis how will you auction these ideals?? So stop testing our ideals.......... and enjoy Bapu's blessings, which he has endownded on your poor soul.

Grim Day for Cricket.....

Sri-Lankan Cricketers Air-Lifted from Gaddafi Stadium
courtesy:TOI

In an unprecedented terrorist event, it is 03/03 in Lahore and this time at the recieving end is cricket and the gentlmen of peace. The attack was not intented only on Sri-Lankan cricketers, the attack was on the sport that binds the Indian Subcontinent emotionally and economically. Cricket appears in jeopardy in subcontinent after today.

Lets try to analyze the situation.

The Sri lankan team was given Prime Ministral security, Do Gilani/Zardari move around in ordinary vechicles? Or the Prime Ministral security force is incapable of arresting even one terrorist, when there were around 12 who tried this? Why the route to the ground not sanatized? How could terrorist had the idea about which bus the Sri-Lankan Cricketers were? Was the security blueprint compromised? Why the evidences as shown on TV was mishandled by Lahore police, was that out of hurry or was an attempt to wipe up evidences?

What about assurances been given by Pakistan leaders including Imran Khan, who had suggested that terrorist would not go forward to attack the cricket as they may loose their popularity in Pakistan. Did he failed in his theory? With Hameed Gul pointing towards Indian involvement, he has forgoten that the world donot care about statements from UNO certified terrorists.

If the terrorist were so well armed then why the attackers didnot blow up the entire convoy, when they had enough opportunity? Was this an attempt by Pakistan to divert the attention and gain sympathy from world that they too are victims of terrorism? If Pakistan is fighting terror then why did they enter into an agreement with Taliban in SWAT Valley?

Now analyze direct fallout of this incident. The Pakistan Cricket which was earlier in jeopardy may become a history, with no cricket being played on Pakistan soil. 2011 world cup may move away from Pakistan, and rest of sub continent has to take on under high security. The direct people to people contact in sub continent may come to a halt.

What ever it may be, whatever may be the motive, the attack on cricket today is the worst ever attack on sports after 1972 attack on Isreal players.

There has been enough of apologies and denails. What we can only hope two things right now ,is that Pakistan should realize that time is running out and Sri-Lankan cricketers should be ready for IPL 2009.

A Comparision of ISO 9001 with Capability Maturity Model(CMM) for software

The Capability Maturity Model for Software, developed by the Software Engineering Institute, and the ISO 9000 series of standards, developed by the International Standards Organization, share a common concern with quality and process management. The purpose of this blog is to contrast the CMM and ISO 9001, showing their differences and simillarities.
Capability Maturity Model for Software:
The CMM for  software, describes the principles and practices underlying software process maturity and is intended to help software organization improve the maturity of their software processes in terms of an evolutionary path from ad hoc, chaotic processes to mature. The CMM is organized into five maturity levels. A maturity level is a well defined evolutionary plateau toward achiving a mature software process.
Five Maturity Levels:
1)Initial: The software process is characterized as ad hoc, and even chaotic. Few processes are defined and success depends on indivisual effort and heroics.
2)Repeatable: Basic project management processes are established to track cost, schedule and functionality. The necessary process discipline is in place to repeat earlier successes on project with similar applications. The key process areas are Requirement Management, Software Project planning,Software project Tracking and Oversight, Software Subcontract Management, Software Quality Assurance,Software configuaration Management.
3)Defined: The software process for both management and engineering activities is documented, standardized and integrated into a standard software process for the organization. All projects use an approved, tailored version of the organization's standard software process for developing and maintaining software. The key process areas include Organization process focus, organization process Defination,Training programme, Integrated software management, software product engineering, Intergroup Co-ordination, Peer Reviews.
4)Managed: Detailed measures of the software process and product quality are collected. Both the software process and products are qualitatively understood and controlled. The key process areas include Quality Process Management(QP) Software Quality Management(QM)
5)Optimizing: Continuous process improvement is enabled by quantative feedback from process and from piloting innovative ideas and technologies. The key process areas include Defect Prevention, Technology change management, Process change management.

The ISO 9000 Series of Standards for Quality Management Systems
The ISO 9000 series of standards is a set of documents dealing with quality systems that can be used for external quality assuarnce purposes. They specify quality system requirements for use where a contract between two parties requires the demonstration of a suppliers's capability to design and supply a product.

The quality concepts addressed by these standards are:
1) An organization should achieve and sustain the quality of the product or service produced so as to meet continually the purchaser's stated or implied needs.
2)An organization should provide confidence to its own management that the intended quality is being achieved and sustained.
3)An organization should provide confidence to the purchaser that the intended quality is being, or will be, achieved in the delivered product or service provided. When contractually required, this provision of confidence may involove agreed demonstration requirement.

Mapping ISO 9001 to the CMM
1)Management Responsibility:Both ISO 9001 and CMM requires that the quality policy bedefined, documented, understood, implemented and maintained.
2)Quality System: ISO 9001 requires that a documented quality system, including procedures nad instructions be established. CMM also advocates same through its key process areas.
3)Contract Review:The CMM also explicitly addressed the acquisition of software through subcontracting by the software organization, as  described in software subcontract management. Contracts may be with an external customer or with a subcontractor, although that description is not made in ISO 9001.

Clearly there are many strong correlations between ISO 9001 and the CMM, although some issues in ISO 9001 are not covered in the CMM, and vice versa.

The clauses in ISO 9001 with no strong relationship to the CMM key process areas, and which are not well addressed in the CMM, are purchaser-supplier product and handling, storing, packaging and delivery.
The biggest difference, however, between these two documents is the emphasis of CMM on continuosus process improvement. ISO 9001 addresses the minimum criteria for an acceptable quality system.
The biggest similarity is that for both the CMM and ISo 9001, the bottom line is "SAY WHAT YOU DO; DO WHAT YOU SAY"

How I spent the Extra Second of 2008......

23:59:60 vs 00:00:00

Please look at time in figure carefully. This is a very interesting fact that most of us donot know. In 2008 we actually got One second extra, the last minute was 61 secs. We do always complain for extra time to God, but many of us didn't even realized that we had missed one second  that was rewarded.

This is fact and no fantacy. The second that we got was a leap second. A leap second is a second, as measured by atomic clock, added to or subtracted from Coordinated Universal Time ( UTC) to make it agree with astronomical time to within 0.9 second. it compensates for slowing in earth's rotation due to earthquakes and other factors and is added during the end of June or December.

I was well aware of this fact in the eve of new year last year and was thinking of what to do in that one second that I would remember for ever. Then I was struck with an idea, I am always troubled by the clock ticking and running away. So I decided to score over the clock by switching off my watch for one second. In this way I kept myself updated with correct time at the same time and at the same time took off all my anger on 24 hr funda.

Friends, if you want to know when we will again get a second extra again, do visit the website of International Earth Rotation and Reference System twice in a year in the month of January and July. They do publish the update, six months prior to event. So next time you have atleast six months to plan how to spent this one second extra....... God is Great

I love Padma....

The Padma awards have always been in controversies. It sometime raises doubt in my mind. Are these awards are about government favour or are based on merit??

There are facts to support this doubt also. How was temperamental offspinner Harbhajan Singh, who was accused of sledging and even slapping a teammate, more deserving of a Padma award than, say, VVS Laxman, classy Hyderabadi batsman and one of the architects of the Indian cricket renaissance. What is the criteria to select Ashwariya Bachaan or Akshya kumar for the award? And irony of all ironies, how can one explain the exclusion of wrestler Sushil Kumar and boxer Bijendra Singh who got us bronze medals at the Beijing Olympics?

Fifty-four years ago, the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award, and Padma awards (Padma Vhibusan, Padma Bhusan and Padma Shri) were instituted to honour exellence. Today with a few honorable exceptions, the award has become an object of  decoration, worth lobbying aggressively for.

Strangely, the awards have no cash component, but since it is a National honour delivered on Republic day, there is a mad scramble for it. Do we need an independant body to judge the awards? After all these are not filmfare awards, these are the highest civillian awards being bestwoed to worthy citizens of the country.

How Much Secular Are we???

Greatest of all irony is always found in Indian Society. The issue I am stressing on today is no different. It is assesing on how much secular are we on book and off the book? We infact need not go too far to any riot prone area to asses ourselves.

Everyone must have atleast once gone through the matrimony advertisement that comes up in sunday edition of Newspapers or matrimony websites in internet. We are also not unaware of the fact the way it is divided into religion, caste, communities. Last sunday I just went through the matrimony section, earlier I never paid any kind of interest, but I found a divided India infront of me.

All credit to these newspapers who claim to be the face of nation, the way they divide us. I in fact had no problem finding a girl of my religion, my caste, and my community. The greatest fun factor was that I searched by religion without looking into even girl's name. The girl's character, education are secondary in selection process, the primary was religion.

We buy this ideal from market, we follow this ideal to decide the most important decision of life i.e marriage but we still send our kids to school where the kid pledges to protect the preamble of India. Have we failed to emerge as a secular state? Do the promises we make at school are only to score marks? Why donot we show courage to fight this?

There is no point blaiming these advertisements, they are there to sell what we buy. We call it as 21st Century confused India.
